What we do…

At RCLA we are all about family. This places our children at the center of everything that we do. Our services aim to serve members through the development and the education of the whole family.

Early Education - “Chickadee” Program

Our Early Childhood Program focuses on the developmentally appropriate needs of the child, with a play-centered environment. Rhythm is at our core by following the seasons and a strong daily rhythm with activities being aligned to provide a sense of security for the children so that they may do their social and emotional work in the classroom through play and conflict resolution. We spend our time both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions through our academic year. We incorporate songs and stories that enrich the children, help ease transitions, create a sense of rhythm and security, and help to bring joy and levity throughout our days. Each child and child group dynamic is unique and considered in the daily planning for the educators. Our program accepts children between the ages four and six years of age, and has a program fit for their developmental needs.

Schedule:
Based on the program and age of the child, it varies on the schedule to support the developmental stage. Overall, Tuesday through Friday - 8:00 A.M - 12:00 P.M., some staying all day.

Cost:
Chickadee I: $4,000.00
Chickadee II & III: $4,500.00
Supply Fee: $300.00 per year

Grades Program

Wonder and imagination are really experienced at the root of the early grade years - first through fifth grades. The intellect is developing, however, the thinking is still pictorial, dramatic, and alive with fantasy.  During the sixth through eighth grade years, the middle years, analytical, observational, and critical thinking skills begin to flower.

Our full Grades Program will introduce the child to rigorous academics specific to each child based on their age, along with music, theater, home economics, nature exploration, and other subjects. Our small, mixed-age classrooms provide a welcoming, child-centered environment that is individualized and experiential. The focus each morning is the main lesson, where reading, writing, math, history, geography, and the sciences are taught. Though the curriculum is masterfully integrated, students focus on one subject at a time more intensely in block rotations, and recapitulate previous learning in a future block to more deeply integrate what has been learned. Students design, write, and illustrate textbooks for each subject – these “main lesson books” become cherished keepsakes and a source of well-earned pride for the children. All classrooms are screen and edu-tech free.
